Talk:How to make nylon-cement shells
In the reference he uses dirt instead of sand for the mold. I think dirt would hold its shape better and make a better mold. Probably be good to get the dirt wet, make the right shape, then let it dry and harden some. One of the ferrocement methods is to make a mold for an upside down boat out of wood and then put on steel, then plaster. Put you have to work in the plaster, probably with a vibrator. Anyway, not sure sand will work.Vincecate 02:16, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I said sand, but dirt may be better. You may also be correct to let it dry and harden some. I know sand casting has been done by others though, so it should also be possible to use sand. --Crasch 06:25, 4 August 2008 (UTC)
