Basalt is a form of igneous rock that is extremely common in nature. The relevance to Seasteading comes from newer forms of concrete-reinforcing fibers made from basalt, much like glass fibers are used for reinforcing a resin matrix.

Basalt rebar and mesh are an obvious complement to Ferrocement and Geopolymer construction methods.
