1) Reasonably safe in the deep ocean environment

- The above two points can be better summed up as meeting or exceeding standards for off-shore accommodations established by the American Bureau of Shipping or another Classification society
3) Affordable price/living-area ratio
4) Accessible by support vessels for people and supplies
7) Modularity
